Tom has been a member of Southwood Volunteer Fire Dept for 25 years. Having served as Chief, he is currently President of the organization. Tom's interests include training and safety, especially when it comes to cancer awareness. Tom also servs on the executive boards for fire training in the Town of Onondaga as well as 3 years with the Onondaga County Fire Chiefs Association.
"The fight is personal to me as I lost my Mom to lung cancer. I joined Believe 31 after 2 of our members were stricken and succumb to cancer. Cancer Sucks. I want to be a part of something where the mission is to raise awareness and able to reach out a hand to those in need."

We have been providing support for our emergency service partners.
Believe 31 is a 501(c)3 entity made up of Firefighters, EMS personnel, Commissioners, Auxiliary members, and their family and friends. The Board is made up of representatives from each of the three counties we serve.
Steve Yaciuk, a volunteer firefighter with over 30 years of service and one of the co-founders, is himself a cancer survivor.

Believe 31 assists firefighters and auxiliary members who are in need in Cortland, Madison, and Onondaga Counties. We do this through emotional and financial support for those battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses as well as building awareness of cancer risk and prevention in the fire industry.
